Hosted by Scottish Natural Heritage with a formal welcome from Andrew Thin, Chairman of SNH.
: : Matthew Dalziel + Louise Scullion will introduce their major new work commissioned for SNH’s new Inverness headquarters.
DALZIEL + SCULLION are visual artists whose work in photography, sound and video installations explores humanity’s interaction with the natural world. More Than Us will be the third conference/symposium either initiated by the artists or created around the artists' work. They met whilst exhibiting in the 1990 British Art Show, and their collaborative works have since been shown at various international venues including the Venice Biennale, British Artists in Rome and the Centre For Contemporary Art, Melbourne. In the last three years they have received a Creative Scotland Award, The Saltire Award For Art in Architecture, The Eco Prize for Creativity and have recently been short-listed for the international Artes Mundi Prize 2008.
: : Lau will perform a set from their recent album plus a new unpublished piece, Sea.
LAU have been described as a formidable union of three of the finest and most innovative exponents of modern traditional music in Scotland today: Kris Drever, winner of the BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award (guitar and vocal), Martin Green (piano accordion) and Aidan O’Rourke (fiddle). In little over a year LAU have become well established throughout Scotland and are storming festivals across the world. Lau’s live shows are being described as a must-see experience. Aidan O’Rourke won the 2006 Instrumentalist of the Year award at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards.
